I am a lifelong
registered democrat and the mother of five. The recent primaries
had left me disillusioned and discouraged. My party's primary left
me with no candidate that I could support and for the first time
since I had cast my ballot I abstained from voting for any candidate.
I felt unrepresented and unimportant in the process. I looked ahead
to t he
general election with a sense of dread, appalled by the arrogance
of the democratic nominee and unsure about Senator McCain. There
was a real possibility that I would abstain from the general election
as well and that left me even more disillusioned with so many important
issues to resolve. The economy. Winning the war in Iraq. As a small
business owner I have too much at stake not to cast my ballot.
The nomination
of Sarah Palin piqued my curiosity and I, like millions of others,
sat anxiously in front of the television set to hear what she had
to say. Her presence was captivating. Her speech was inspiring.
Her experience was impressive. And her commitment to change was
real. (READ
HER SPEECH)
The
addition of Sarah Palin to the McCain ticket is exactly what this
country needs right now and for the future. Mr. McCain made
a smart selection, I have to give him credit for that, even if I
still don't agree with him on all of the issues. If he's smart enough
to select Ms. Palin for the job, well, I feel like he's smart enough
to make the decisions we need to have made for the next four years.
He certainly has the experience. And he's in tune with what the
country wants. And what it needs.
I've heard
a lot of talk from the democratic party about knowing what we need,
but I sure haven't seen much action. We hear about global warming
and taking care of things for our children's future. All talk. Mostly
its about doing things for us as though we don't know what is best.
I want responsible action for the sake of my children. And I absolutely
cannot stomach a campaign that thinks that being a 'community
activist' is equal to the Son of God. I sure wouldn't
want to be him standing before the Pearly Gates trying to explain
that!
Governor Palin,
I salute you for your no-nonsense approach, your commitment to change
and your focus on family values.
Ask yourself
what's best for your children. I think you'll make the same choice.
I'm a democrat that voted for Ronald Reagan. And I'm voting for
McCain-Palin for five very good reasons my kids Sarah,
Courtney, Melissa, Jeremy and Christopher.
Each
of us can make a difference. It is said that a journey begins with
the first step. If so, then change happens with one vote - yours.
Sincerely,
Debby Johnson
